HALFWAY – Picture yourself on a gourmet raft trip in scenic Hells
Canyon, riding horses in stunning mountain wilderness, hiking with
llamas, jet-boating on the Snake River or fishing the day away on
Brownlee Reservoir.
Five outdoor adventures will be raffled March 21 to help save the
faltering Pine Eagle Clinic in Halfway. Like other rural clinics,
Halfway’s has been hit hard by the loss of federal funding and a
growing population of older and sicker patients.
Winners of the raffle will enjoy outdoor adventures in Northeast
Oregon’s playground that runs from the Snake River National Recreation
Area in Hells Canyon to the rugged Wallowa Mountain Eagle Cap
Wilderness.
A $5 raffle ticket buys a chance on any one of five summer 2009 adventure packages valued from $474 to $2,665. Specific package information is detailed at www.saveourclinic.org
Mountain lovers stay in a spacious cabin, dine in a lodge and head into the wilderness for an overnight horse-packing trip.
Hikers let llamas carry their gear while exploring the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
Whitewater enthusiasts enjoy a Snake River jet boat tour to historic Kirkwood Ranch.
A four-day raft trip travels farther along the Snake offering plenty of time to experience stunning Hells Canyon.
Calmer waters on the Snake’s Brownlee Reservoir offer a full day of charter fishing for four.
All adventure packages include food and lodging donated by local outfitters, motels, bed and breakfasts and restaurants.
