U.S. Army Capt. Shane Baker has appreciated the support shown for New York Citys victims of last months terrorist attacks, but he wanted to do more for the victims at the Pentagon in Virginia.
So Baker has organized the Tournament of Heroes, a flag-football tournament sponsored by the Army and the Army National Guard.
Teams and sponsors are still being sought for the Nov. 13-15 event. Games will be played in the evenings under the lights of Optimist Field at Pioneer Park.

We have five teams so far, and were working on getting six but we want eight, Baker said.
Teams will play eight-man flag football. Teams and their sponsors so far are:
Army/National Guard, sponsored by Dr. James McMahan and Future 1 Cosmotology School
Fire Department, sponsored by Island City Tire Factory and D&B Supply
Police Department, sponsored by Les Schwab
Nash Manufacturing, sponsored by Wal-Mart
Boise Cascade.
Baker said sponsors have donated between $100 and $500 and money will go directly to the Army Emergency Relief Fund. The fund helps families of Pentagon victims, provides scholarships to children of victims and helps families of service men and women killed in the war on terrorism.
There is no fee to enter a team. To register, call Baker at 963-2788 or 963-1767 by noon Monday.
