BAKER CITY A veteran missionary to the Bisorio tribe in Papua New Guinea will be the keynote speaker during New Tribes Mission’s 27th annual West Coast missionary conference in Baker City next weekend.

George Walker will be featured during the conference which begins Friday at 7 p.m. and will continue through Sunday evening, May 11.

The conference will be held at the New Tribes Missions Institute, a training center for missionaries at 3100 H St.

In addition to Walker, several other missionaries will speak. These people are working to see that tribal churches are planted in several locations across the globe including Bolivia, Brazil, Senegal, Thailand and Papua New Guinea.

The missionaries will be sharing their real-life stories, giving media presentations, participating in discussions and providing instruction on the Bible’s motivations for missionary service.

The meetings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, and from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on both May 10 and May 11.

Special meetings and activities are planned for teenagers and children. A nursery will be available during all meetings for children from birth through the age of 4.

A limited number of guest rooms will be available by advance reservation. Free space for tents and recreation vehicles will be provided.

Dining, bathroom and shower facilities are available on the grounds.

New Tribes Mission is a non-denominational organization that assists local churches in evangelizing unreached people groups and translating the Bible into their languages.
