Three Eastern Oregon High School Rodeo team members are off to Klamath Falls this week for the Oregon High School State Finals.

Chelsey Haywood of Union, Kelsey Gordon of Summerville and Savanna Dillman of Baker City are hoping to qualify for nationals in Gillette, Wyo.

The state rodeo begins with the first go-around Thursday.

Gordon is making her third trip to state. She qualified in the barrel racing and the pole bending and is ranked No. 6 in the state in both events.

The top five finishers at state move on to nationals in Gillette in July. The fifth- through 10th-place finishers in each event qualify for the Silver State High School Rodeo in Fallon, Nev.

Gordon, right on the cusp of a trip to nationals, has been to the Silver State Rodeo twice. She said she’s hopeful that this is the year she gets to go to Gillette, instead.

Gordon also said she has gotten a lot of help from her sponsor, Randall Miles of Country Companies Insurance.

Haywood is going to the state rodeo for the second time. She is ranked No. 14 in poles.

Dillman is also returning to state for the second time. She qualified in poles, goat-tying and team roping.

Other members of the EOHSR team are Kyler Wright of Union, Kaitlyn Brown of North Powder, Amanda McLean of Halfway and Savannah Shroyer of North Powder.
