Bryn Lunde
Joseph
1985-2004
Bryn Owen Lunde, 19, of Joseph took his own life Dec. 29 on Chief Joseph Mountain after a battle with severe depression.
Bryn was born July 12, 1985, to Nick and Angie Lunde in Lincoln City. The family moved to Wallowa County when he was 4 years old. He graduated from Joseph High School in 2003, spent a year as an exchange student in Bern, Switzerland, and attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland.
He was a quiet, sensitive, free-thinking person who showed his creativity through art, writing and music. He had an adventurous spirit and constantly pushed his athletic abilities on his snowboard, and in hiking, mountain climbing and catching air in the Enterprise skate park. He was concerned with injustices in the world and struggled to find ways to make a difference. He loved nature,
animals and was happiest in his beloved Wallowa Mountains.
He touched the lives of those who knew him through his gentleness and acceptance of all people.
His family said that although his death was a tragic ending to his life, which was so full of potential, the pain he bravely carried alone has been dispersed among all who knew him. His gifts, too, have been shared with those who loved him and live on.
Survivors include his parents of Joseph; siblings, Peter Lunde of Portland, and Erin Lunde of Cambridge, Mass; a grandmother, Dene Bish of Talent; a grandfather, Myron Cropscy of Corvallis; and other relatives.
Memorials may be made in Bryn’s name to the Fishtrap Young Writer’s Fund, The Nature Conservancy or Foundation Human Nature, USA, which works to improve conditions in Ecuador and Ghana, in care of Bollman Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Enterprise.
