Martha Rose Cameron, 90, of La Grande died April 14 at her home. At her request there will be no public service. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cameron was born Nov. 7, 1914, to William Edward and Frona Tift Zachow in Clayton, Wash. In 1929 she married Harold Vivian Brittain. After his death in 1951 she married Victor Cameron in 1957.

She worked for the French Cleaners in Newport, Wash., at the Albeni Falls Dinner Club and a skating rink. She served as a Cub Scout den mother for several years, and was a member of the Pythian Sisters in Newport for 15 years and later in La Grande where she held several offices.

She was a member of the Snowmobile Club and loved snowmobiling. She enjoyed square dancing and scenic drives, but her greatest love was her family.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Robert H. and Gabrielle Brittain of the Dominican Republic, Phyllis A. and Clarence Corning of Priest River, Idaho, and Joyce H. and Bob Hockett of Rathdrum, Idaho; a step-son and his wife, Mike and Violet Cameron of Moscow, Idaho; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Birdie Brittain of Medallion Falls, Wash.; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Marilyn Zachow of Island City; sisters, Reta Hoxie of Island City and Clara Wiscarson of Salem; and other relatives. Her husband and a son, Leo Claude Brittain, died earlier.

Francis Edwin "Frank" Keller, 70, of Boise and formerly of La Grande died April 14 at a care center after a long illness. The funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Risen Christ Catholic Church in Boise. Burial will be at Cloverdale Cemetery in Boise.

Mr. Keller was born June 14, 1934, to Frank Joseph and Christina Johanna Connot Keller in Winner, S.D. He graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy in Boise in 1952, and from Seattle University in 1956. He earned a master’s degree at the University of Idaho in 1957.

On Nov. 4, 1961, he married Margaret Bernice Heeney in Nampa, Idaho. He earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Montana State University in 1964, and an MBA from Boise State University in 1972.

He worked as an engineer in the 1950s and ’60s, and in 1966 he began teaching science, engineering, math and later business at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Boise State University and Albertson’s College of Idaho.

He taught at Eastern Oregon State College from 1982-92, serving as dean of the School of Administrative Studies. He retired to Boise.

Survivors include his wife of Boise; children and their spouses, Paul Keller of Richland, Wash., Susan and Robert Marston of Boise, Pamela and Gordon Blewett of Kennewick, Wash., and Patricia and Aaron Cook of Boise; one grandchild and one step-grandchild; siblings and their spouses, Margaret and Dallas Qualman of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Bertha and Harry Johnson of Reno, Nev.; and other relatives. His brothers, John and Joseph Keller, a sister, Gertrude Mangum, and a daughter-in-law, Torie Keller, all died earlier.

Wayne L. Locke, 74, of Enterprise died April 6 in Las Vegas, Nev. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. April 22 at the Enterprise Christian Church.

Mr. Locke was born Aug. 31, 1930, to Corda L. and Mable Zollman Locke in Jordon, Mont. He graduated from Wallowa High School in 1948, and on July 27, 1949, he married Laura Jean Pace in Enterprise. He worked as a mechanic for Caterpillar and at the Ford garage, and retired from Courtney Motors as shop foreman in 1986.

He enjoyed flying RC planes, fishing, being outdoors and being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of Enterprise; children and their spouses, Teresa Earsley of Corte Madera, Calif., and Kirk and Diana Locke of Pendleton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Caren "Sue" Liebe, 40, of Hermiston and formerly of Enterprise died March 11 at her home of natural causes. A celebration of life will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday March 16 at the Hermiston Community Center. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday April 23 at the Lostine Cemetery, with a potluck reception afterwards at the IOOF hall in Wallowa.

Mrs. Liebe was born March 15, 1964, to Fred and Darleene Rafferty in Enterprise. She graduated from Riverside High School in Boardman in 1981 where she was voted most athletic female and participated in Girls’ State. She remained involved at school with children in many activities whether she was helping teach, coaching or encouraging team players. In Hermiston she played softball and earned the nickname "Top Gun." On March 27, 1991 she married Albert Lewis "Sonny" Liebe Jr. in Tacoma, Wash. She worked as a licensed tax consultant for several years and participated in Little League, the Blue Mountain Volleyball Association, Bethlehem Lutheran Pre-school, and other community functions.

Survivors include her husband and children, David Jacob and Mykel Raeann, all of Hermiston; her mother Dee Stubblefield of Baker City; siblings, Rolin Ray Gorbett of Benton City, Wash., Timothy David Rafferty of Prosser, Wash., and Cheryl Ann Post of Pendleton; and other relatives. Her father died earlier.

Betty J. Bailey, 84, of Milton-Freewater and formerly of La Grande died April 13 at Walla Walla General Hospital. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey was born Feb. 14, 1921, to Homer J. and Viola J. Harrison Graham in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School in 1939, and married Lloyd Knapp. She attended modeling school in Burbank, Calif., and was one of three models appearing on national war billboards. After the war the couple moved to Spokane, and were later divorced. She attended Kinman Business University, served an apprenticeship with Dr. David Cowan, and became a dental hygienist. In 1950 she married Lt. Charles C. Bailey. They were later divorced. She moved with her daughter to Salem and worked for Oregon State University before moving to La Grande where they lived for a short time. For the next 40 years she lived in Milton-Freewater where she worked for the police department until her retirement in 1972. She cared for her mother until her death at the age of 102, and for the last five years lived with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tamra and Donald Mooney of Milton-Freewater; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and other relatives. A son, Jerry Kent, died earlier.

Oliver Earl Boeve, 54, of Wallowa Lake died April 15 of natural causes.

Mr. Boeve was born June 7, 1950, to Kenneth Gerald and Mary Lou Atkinson Boeve in Portland. He graduated from high school in Sherwood in 1969, and served in the Army with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He married Keithanne Hastings in 1973 and worked at a number of undertakings, from construction to a restaurant and store and one-hour photos, the most recent being Boeve’s General Store and Pub at Wallowa Lake. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Old Farts Mountain Climbers. He enjoyed hiking, climbing, snowshoeing and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife of Wallowa Lake; children and their spouses, Kelly Boeve-Russell and Justin Russell, and Kasey Boeve and Jacob Wright; siblings and their spouses, Nancy and John Nyberg, Kathleen Boeve and Jim Stonebridge, Andrew and Ngozi Nkonghi, Ric and Nina Crone, Ed and Lisa Hastings, Cheryl Brown, Eileen and David Nelson, Linda Hulsey, Karen and Robert Andrews, Dr. David and Annette Hastings; father-in-law and his companion, Robert Gannon and Helen Thornton; and other relatives. Donald Forest Myer, 75, of La Grande died April 18 at his home. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday April 23 at the Eagles Lodge, 1212 Jefferson Ave.

Mr. Myer was born Jan. 25, 1930 to Forest and Amelia Myer in Detroit, Mich. The family moved to La Grande when he was 9 years old. He served in the Navy during the Korean War, and in 1969 began a partnership with Larry Folston in Don and Larry’s distributorship. He was a member of the Elks’ Lodge, the Eagles and the American Legion.

Survivors include his companion, Jo Tildon; children, Raymond Myer and Susan Arnason; a sister Marian of Lewiston, Idaho; and a brother, Earl Myer of Ocean Park, Wash. A brother, Edwin Myer, and a son, Donald Myer Jr., died earlier.

Jack Lee Baremore, 67, of Union died suddenly April 18 in Reno, Nev., of natural causes. Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St.

A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday April 22 at Valley Fellowship, 507 Palmer St., with Pastor Bill Miller officiating, and a graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. at Wallowa Cemetery. A reception will follow at 4 p.m. at the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show clubhouse in Union.

Mr. Baremore was born July 22, 1937, to Charlie Lee and Ruth Ida Klees Baremore in Stevensville, Mont. He moved to Wallowa County in the fall of 1956 and then to Union County in the fall of 1972. He married Karen Horton

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ranching, logging and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of Union; his mother of Wallowa; children and their spouses, Dennis and Levon Baremore of Union, Susan Baremore and Tina Baremore, both of Kuna, Idaho; and Roy and Tanya Baremore of Union; brothers, James Baremore of La Grande, Richard Baremore of Summerville, Dan Baremore of Wallowa; and eight grandchildren. His father and a son, Ronald, died earlier.

Ethel T. Crow, 87, of Lostine died April 8 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of life service was conducted for her April 12, following a graveside service and burial in the Lostine Cemetery. The arrangements were handled by Bollman funeral Home.

Mrs. Crow was born Dec. 27, 1917 to George and Sara (Fleishner) Theoblad in Pittsburgh, Penn. She was the youngest of seven children.

Mrs. Crow graduated from Carrick High School in 1933, and attended a business school in Pennsylvania. After her schooling, she worked in offices of the War Department in Washington, D.C.

There she met her future husband, Major L. Warner Crow of Lostine. The couple married Nov. 5, 1944.

After World War II ended, the Crows moved to Oregon, where Mr. Crow joined his father and brothers in running the family business M. Crow and Company in Lostine. Mrs. Crow also worked in the family business.

Mrs. Crow was a member of the Lostine Presbyterian Church and maintained the church bulletin for more than 50 years.

She enjoyed spending tim with her family, including camping together, fishing and attending sporting events. She was an avid bowler for many years and loved reading, writing poetry, gardening and word games, and having two of her poems published later in her life.

Survivors include her children, Janice Bird and husband Keith of Lostine, Claudia Moore and husband Wayne of McMinnville and Douglas Crow and wife Melanie of Enterprise; and four grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the Lostine Presbyterian Church building fund.

William Blaine Rice, 69, of Union died April 15 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. At his request, no public services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Rice was born on May 31, 1935, the son of Elmer Rice in Cle Elum, Wash. Mr. Rice married Evelyn Eckley and together the couple settled in the Grande Ronde Valley.

Bill worked as a logger and logged timber with horses. After a logging accident, he could no longer work and was disabled. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an inventor and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Elaine Rice of Willisville, Ark.; sister, Ellen Meyer of Salem, Evelyn Schuett of Seattle, and Gloria of Washington; several step-children; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
