Norma Rose Posey, 88, of La Grande, died Oct. 20 at a local care center. A viewing and prayer service begin at 4 p.m. today at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Burial will be in Caldwell, Idaho.

Mrs. Posey was born Oct. 31, 1916, to Clarence and Lottie Dutton Moler in Boise. On April 19, 1984, she married Estel Posey. She was as a licensed physical therapist and worked for chiropractors during her working years. She was a member of the Cove Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing and playing the piano at church.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Therese Emry of Fort Mill, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Delilah Moler of Las Vegas, Nev.; nephews nd nieces, Thomas Moler of Las Vegas, Vicki Paine of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Mildred Lloyd of Summerville; and other relatives. Her husband and a son, Gil C. Emry, died earlier.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Summerville Baptist Church in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St.

Sallie Ann Seaman, 73, of Cove, died Oct. 19 at Saint Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 29 at the La Grande Masonic Lodge. A private burial will be at the Cove Cemetery.

Mrs. Seaman was born Nov. 26, 1931, to Marvin and Audrey Morris Ponton in Fairfax, Okla. She graduated from Cottage Grove High School. The family had a logging company in Glide for many years before moving to Enterprise where they ran a cattle ranch during the 1970s, and later moved to the Grande Ronde Valley where they had an irrigation operation.

She attended beauty college in Santa Barbara, Calif., and in 1955 married Walt Hansen. After his death she moved to Cove in 1986, and on Aug. 8, 1992, married Daniel Seaman. She was a member and past grand matron of the Order of Eastern Star and belonged to the Roseburg Chapter and the Cherry Chapter for 52 years; the Daughters of the Nile; and was Mother Advisor for Rainbow for Girls Mother Ortman Assembly in Enterprise; and the Hoofin’ Heifers. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and dancing.

Survivors include her husband of Cove; children and their spouses, Pattie Jo and Larry Taylor of Gravois Mills, Mo., Gary and Debra Hansen of Cove, and Debbie and Tim Huffman of Enterprise; step-children and their spouses, David and Kris Seaman of Nampa, Idaho, and Diane Barker of Boise; a sister, Mary Jane DuMont of Glide; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Order of Eastern Star cancer research or donations a new stuffed toys may be made for the Shriners Children’s Hospital in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St.

Charles Roy Lamm, 78, of Lewiston, Idaho, and formerly of Wallowa died Oct. 21 at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Lamm was born Nov. 1, 1926, to Paul Johnathan and Orpha Jane Beddes Lamm in La Grande. He attended school in Wallowa and before finishing high school enlisted in the Army during World War II. He received a high school diploma at the age of 75. In February 1952 he married Melba June Zollman. They lived in to Northern California and Idaho where he worked in the logging industry. In 1963 the couple bought the Crossroads Cafe in Grangeville, Idaho, and ran a laundromat, the Camas Motel and the Elkhorn Motel until 1997 when they moved to Lewiston. There they bought and managed the Southgate Shopping Center. They also bought property in Hawaii and spent a summer traveling in Europe with Mervin and Pat Zollman.

He was always working at something and was known for helping others. He enjoyed working outdoors, hunting, fishing, traveling, riding, playing golf and being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of Lewiston; children and their spouses, Jerrold and Carol Lamm of Boise, Charles Lamm of Lewiston, and Kathy and Jim Dow of Burien, Wash.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, a brother, Dale Lamm of Gooding, Idaho, and sisters, Evelyn of Roseburg, Ethel of Enterprise and Lola of Riggins, Idaho.

Susan Lynn Linehan, 43, of Orofino, Idaho, and formerly of Enterprise and North Powder died Oct. 16 as the result of a motorcycle accident. Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Linehan was born Jan. 2, 1962, to Teddy and Hildegard Simmons in Pendleton. She attended school in Enterprise and graduated from high school in Burns. She married David Christensen, and in 1987 Cole Lytle. In Dec. 2003 she married Ron Linehan in Orofino.

She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, camping, her tattoo artistry and riding her motorcycle. She was a member of the Clearwater Chapter of ABATE american Bikers Aiming Toward Education.

Survivors include her husband of Orofino; her mother of La Grande; children, Ted, Douglas and Corissa Christensen, Nicole and Jared Lytle, and R.J. and Trina Linehan; one grandchild; siblings, Irene Madarieta of Burns, Lisa Cornell of La Grande, stanley Simmons of Portland and Douglas Simmons of Houston, and other relatives. Her father and a brother, Garry Simmons, died earlier.

Norman "Dale" Pierson, 72, of La Grande, died Oct. 24 at his home after a short illness. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday Oct. 27 at Grandview Cemetery.

Mr. Pierson was born Oct. 4, 1933, to Charles Kenneth and Delpha O’Neil Pierson in La Grande. He graduated from La Grande High School in 1951, and on Feb. 4, 1953, he married Floye Coffer in Las Vegas, Nev. He served in the Navy and owned several service stations in La Grande. Later he worked for Boise Cascade and retired after 20 years.

He enjoyed fly-fishing, hunting, camping, coaching all levels of baseball, bowling, playing softball and most of all being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of La Grande; children and their spouses, Kirk and Sheri Pierson of La Grande, Brent and Cindy Pierson of Roseburg, Nikki Carlson of La Grande, Frank Carlson of Baker City and Tricia and Bruce Anson of Broomfield, Colo.; siblings and their spouses and companions, Bruce and Marilyn Pierson of Bremerton, Wash., Bill Pierson of West Virginia, Gary Pierson and Lynn Duncan of La Grande and Baltimore, Md., Leora and Kent Houston of Clovis, Calif., and Penny Martin of McMinnville; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives. His parents, a brother, Kenny Pierson, and two grandchildren, Clint Pierson and Sierra Carlson, all died earlier.

Marlene Sarrett, 70, of La Grande and formerly of Wallowa County died Oct. 23 at her home. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday Oct. 27 at The Bramlet Cemetery in Wallowa. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sarrett was born June 1, 1935, to LeRoy and Lida Boyd Hulse in La Grande. She attended school in Wallowa, and on June 28, 1952, married Jack Sarrett in Lewiston, Idaho. She spent some time working for the forest service as a lookout, and worked in the kitchen at the Joseph school. She later went to work as a clerk for the Post Office, and eventually became Post Master. She retired after 20 years.

She enjoyed antiques, painting, quilting, crafts, genealogy and being with her family.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Charles and Carma Sarrett, and Robert and Sandy Sarrett, both of La Grande, and Douglas and Linda Sarrett of Phoenix, Ariz.; siblings and their spouses, Harold and Dodie Hulse, Gary and Marilyn Hulse, and Duane Hulse, all of Wallowa, and Elaine and Bob Durrer of Cloverdale; and other relatives. Her husband, two sisters, Sharon and Vera Jean, and a brother, Dale, all died earlier.

Mark Royal, 41, of La Grande died Oct. 8 of natural causes on at Grande Ronde Hospital. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Royal was born October 18, 1963, to William and LaDon Lewin Royal. He attended school in the Yucca Valley in California, and spent several years in the Roseburg area. He moved to La Grande two years ago La Grande.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, wildlife viewing and most of all spending time at the ocean.

Survivors include his mother LaDon Evers of La Grande; a sister, Becky Montgomery of North Powder, and other relatives.

Marty Jo Thompson, an infant, of North Powder died Oct. 24 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise. Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel in Baker City is in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the North Powder Cemetery with Bishop Allen Bingham of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating.

Marty Jo was born Oct. 24 to Colby and Erin Thompson in Boise. Survivors include her parents of North Powder, a twin sister, Jacee Ann, grandparents Doug and Nanette Winkelman of Elgin, and Brent and Jeanette Thompson of Haines; and other relatives, including great-grandparents.
