Local artist plays Son Light

Local Christian artist Stacy Shown will be performing today at 2 p.m. during the seventh annual Son Light Fest.
Stacy, two-time first place Female Vocalist of the Washington State Christian Talent Contest and a two-time regional semifinalist of the Exalting Him! National Talent Search, performs and leads worship throughout the Northwest, such as The Bite of Seattle, Eastern Oregon’s Son Light Fest, the Maritime Gig Festival, The Puyallup Fair, Aglow International, West Hills Street Fair and various other settings.
She has performed as a soloist, in small ensembles and with large choral groups, such as the Jazz Disciples and the Tacoma Master Chorale. In 2005, she participated in a recording project with the Jazz Disciples, a band and vocal ensemble that does hymns to a big-band sound
A graduate of Elgin High school and an alumnus of Eastern Oregon University with a bachelor’s degree in music, she also has experience in teaching voice, working as a worship director and conducting a worship camp for youth-age worship teams. She has volunteered as an adjudicator for the Assembly of God Northwest District Fine Arts Festival in Tacoma, as well as judging the Washington State Christian Talent Contest for several years.
She writes music in a variety of styles, but focuses on worship music for a contemporary audience.
She, her husband and three sons are involved in worship and children’s ministries at Faith Center in La Grande.
