With passengers representing 10 United Methodist churches, seven

denominations and from places as far away as Tennessee, the United

Methodist Gospel Train made its way through the beautiful Minam Canyon

on a five-hour trip.

Music filled the air as the passengers sang their favorite music,

listened to mini sermons, did faith sharing and related uplifting

stories. The music could be heard until the train rolled into the Elgin

depot, and many of the excited passengers asked if a third annual train

ride could follow and become an annual event for the area.

Twenty-two percent of the passengers were already repeat riders from the previous year’s Gospel Train.

More than 40 passengers filled the car, and individuals shared music and testimonials the full ride.

Pastors Kaye Garver, Sally Wiens and Tim Novak of Echo provided mini sermons during the day.

Bob Wiles and Ruth Ulrig gave several renditions on harmonica and keyboard during the journey, while duets and solos were sung by Mary Hopkins, Wendi Johnson, Pam Millhoff, Martha Hug and Gerald Hopkins.

A special mini activity was lead by Becci Scott where members were asked to associate the deck of 52 cards with church meanings.

Door prizes were handed out following the activity.

Pastor Novak shared the final benediction after a day of fellowship, beautiful scenery and wildlife on the Two Rivers Excursion Train.
