Panthers reel in all-state selections

- OFF TO THE RACES: Imblerâs Zack Phillips was selected to the first team as a reciever. Phillips ended the season with a four-catch, 83-yard performance in the state title game. -
The All-State Class 1A football team was announced, and Special District 4 received 13 nominations.
Imbler’s Henry Kanoho was one of three players to be selected to the first team on offense and defense.
Kanoho helped the Panthers advance to the state championship game for the third straight season. For his efforts he was selected to the offensive and defensive line first teams.
Zack Phillips, of Imbler, was one of two juniors selected to the first team.
Phillips finished with 83 yards and a touchdown in the state title game, and earned a selection on the receivers list.
Imbler’s Wesley Burgess, Jake McLean and Bryan Mills earned first team selections. Jace Eisminger and Brent Teeter were second team selections.
Cove earned four selections. Jered Witty was named second-team quarterback and linebacker.
Kyle Holland earned second-team offensive line and honorable mention defensive line selections.
Ronald Gladden was the lone Cougar to earn a selection. The junior tabbed second team receiver.
In one game Gladden amassed 230 yards on eight receptions with three touchdowns.
Ryan Pierson of St. Paul earned the Player of the Year honor.
The Buckaroos defeated Imbler in the championship game 38-34.
St. Paul’s Tony Smith was selected the Coach of the Year.
