Dancers from Ballet Idaho featured in La Grande School of Ballet’s performance of ‘Swan Lake’

LA GRANDE – FormerLa Grande dancer Elizabeth Herrmann Barreto from Ballet Idaho returns to perform the roles of Odette/Odile inLa Grande School of Ballet’s “Swan Lake” this weekend.

Joining her is Andrew Taft in the role of Prince Sigfried,also a Ballet Idaho company member.

The recital is Saturday at6:30 p.m. in McKenzie Theatre at EOU. Tickets, $10 for adults, $5 for students and children, are available at the door.

This recital features students from the ages of 3 andfrac12; through adult. They are performing a variety of dances featuring the music of Tschaikovsky and some choreography of Marius Petipa from the original “Swan Lake.”

Featured dancers are local seniors Gwen Antell, Sarah Winn and Riley Schaefer performing the pas de trios. Instructor Ashley Braden performs the “Spanish Dance.”

Charlotte Gerbver, Katie Wagner, Tishina Brock and Annie Woodworth are the cygnets. The “Big Swan” dance is danced by Alyssa Pratt, Kathryn Prout, Sarah Winn and Gwen Antell. All of the girls in the studio are swans and the boys are ravens who assist the evil Rothbart (Tom Herrmann/Rick Mugrage).

La Grande School of Ballet was established in 1982. Instructors Swannee Herrmann and Ashley Braden offer training in classical ballet and

modern dance.

Elizabeth Herrmann Barreto will return to teach a ballet/modern intensive class June 18-21. Catherine Herrmann will teach a ballet/modern intensive class July 9-12. Call Swannee Herrmann at 541-963-9247 for details.
