Pair join law firm in Baker City

BAKER CITY – Kiley J. Stuchlik and Steven V. Stuchlik have joined the law firm of Silven, Schmeits and Vaughan in Baker City.

Kiley, originally from Weiser, Idaho, is a 2007 graduate of Eastern Oregon University and a 2011 graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law.

Prior to joining the Baker City firm, Kiley clerked for Judge John R. Stegner of the Second Judicial District of Idaho.

Kiley is accepting misdemeanor criminal cases and civil matters including domestic relations proceedings, estate planning, probate, property disputes, personal injury and wrongful death, and landlord-tenant disputes. Kiley is licensed to practice law in Oregon and in Idaho.

Steve, a Baker City native, is a 2008 graduate of Eastern Oregon University and a 2012 graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law.

While at Idaho, he studied with an emphasis on natural resources and environmental law. During his final year of law school he worked as an intern for William L. Herrington, a Moscow, Idaho, attorney whom Steve helped in a variety of civil matters including municipal law, real estate transactions and estate planning. Steve is accepting both criminal and civil cases.

Both Steve and Kiley will be working with longtime Baker City attorney Floyd C. “Charlie” Vaughan.

Workforce analyst to discuss current economic trends

at Chamber breakfast

BAKER CITY – The Baker County Chamber of Commerce will have a no-host breakfast Oct. 24 in Baker City with Andrew Crollard, a workforce analyst from the Oregon Employment Department who works in Baker, Union, Grant, Harney, Malheur and Wallowa counties.

The event will start at 7 a.m. at the Sunridge Inn, 1 Sunridge Lane.

Crollard will discuss current economic trends for the region and state, including unemployment rates, long-term unemployment, industry trends, the looming retirement of Baby Boomers and younger workers harmed by the recession.
