La Grande woman sent to hospital following crash

A La Grande woman was taken to St. Alphonsus Medical Center following a crash in Ontario.

A La Grande woman was involved in a motor vehicle accident Monday morning near Ontario, according to a release from the Oregon State Police.

According to OSP Lt. Mark Duncan, a 2007 Freightliner truck pulling two trailers driven by James Stephens Jr. 38, of Fruitland, Idaho, was northbound on Highway 201N approaching the intersection with Washington Avenue. A 2013 Mazda sport utility vehicle driven by Kelly Cook, 45, of La Grande was westbound on Washington Avenue when it collided into the right side of the truck.

Cook was transported by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario for treatment of injuries. Stephens was not injured.

OSP troopers from the Ontario Area Command office are continuing the investigation. OSP was assisted at the scene by the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office, Ontario Police Department, Ontario Fire and Rescue, Treasure Valley Paramedics and Oregon Department of Transportation.

The northbound lanes were blocked for one hour.
