Pastor speaks on ‘God’s Calling’
Pastor Don Dunn will speak on “God’s Calling” at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 901 Penn Ave., at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday. Readings will include Psalm 40:1-11, Isaiah 49:1-7 and 1 Corinthians 1:1-9.
Orders are now being taken for Cookie Grams, which will be delivered Feb. 13-14. Cookie Grams come in one dozen and two dozen plates, for $4.50 and $8. People may pick up forms in the church office.
Holy Communion
to be celebrated
Holy Communion will be celebrated on the second Sunday after Epiphany this week during the 9:30 a.m. worship service at the First Presbyterian Church.
The message by Pastor Laura Hudson, titled “I See You,” is based on Isaiah 49:1-7 and John 1:29-42. Fellowship and Christian Education will follow the service. Community Fellowship Night dinner is at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Rt. Rev. Rivera
will preach Sunday
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will observe the Second Sunday after the Epiphany with Holy Eucharist at 9 a.m. The Rt. Rev. Bavi Edna Rivera, provisional bishop of Eastern Oregon, will preside and preach. A festive coffee hour with the bishop will follow the service. Bishop Rivera will also meet briefly with the
vestry.
Morning prayer is offered at 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the chapel. A midweek Eucharist is offered at 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays, also in the chapel.
Pastor teaches on ‘The Gift of Grace’
Doug Edmonds’ lesson Sunday at the Church of Christ will be “The Gift of Grace: Godless Living” with reference to Ephesians
2:1-10.
Communion is taken every Sunday. Sunday morning classes are from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., and worship service follows at 10:30 a.m. Children’s church is held during the sermon for the little ones. ‘Baptism with Holy Spirit’ is sermon title
COVE – Grace Community Lutheran Church contemporary worship service begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with
Pastor Carl Seelhoff’s sermon titled, “Baptism with the Holy Spirit.”
The pastor also will lead the adult Bible study on the Holy Trinity starting at 9 a.m. Fellowship follows the worship service. The youth will begin collecting food and money for Souper Bowl Sunday.

at the Cove Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Physical therapist
is guest speaker
Dale Johnston, a local physical therapist, is the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Saturday at the La Grande Seventh-day Adventist Church with a message relevant to life and health.
All are welcome. The Cove Seventh-day Adventist Church will have a special presentation to be announced. The service begins at 9:30 a.m.

The Legacy Journey by Dave Ramsey is an all-new, seven-week, biblically-based class that teaches people how to truly live and leave a legacy for generations to come.
This class will focus on investing, basic estate planning, purposeful living, safeguarding a person’s legacy and discovering the keys to generational wealth and true generosity.
Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small-group activities, people will learn a biblical framework for living intentionally now so that later they’ll be able to leave a legacy that will secure their family’s future and make a lasting impact on the world.
The Legacy Journey classes meet for around an hour and a half each week for seven weeks.
The free signup class will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Valley Fellowship. People can enter the building through the Grande Ronde Academy door on the east side of the building

‘Leave a Little Room for God’ is topic
“Leave a Little Room for God” is the title of the sermon Sunday at the United Methodist Church, 1612 Fourth St. Circuit Minister Mike Lamb will present the sermon at 10 a.m.
Child care is available.
Following the service, coffee will be provided in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.
Celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday
Valley Fellowship will celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.
Since 1983, Americans have observed Sanctity of Human Life Sunday as a day to celebrate the fundamental value of all human life.
This day also provides an opportunity for pregnancy centers to share about the work they do to bring life-affirming resources to their communities and to empower women and men to choose life for their unborn children.
Vicki Grove, director of Next Step Pregnancy Information Center in La Grande, will share about the work and needs at Next Step.
Valley Fellowship meets at 507 Palmer (by Pioneer Park) at 10:02 a.m.
Everyone is welcome, and child care and children’s programs are available.

‘What Are You Looking For’ is theme
ENTERPRISE – “What Are You Looking For?” based on John 1:29-42 is the theme for Bible study at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Enterprise Community Church.

Zion Lutheran Church will celebrate the Second Sunday after Epiphany with Pastor Colleen Nelson. The 9:30 a.m. service includes the celebration of Holy Communion.
The worship service is followed by fellowship at
10:30 a.m., Sunday classes at 11 a.m. and no-host lunch at the Golden Crown Restaurant at 12:15 p.m. Zion Lutheran is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Sermon focuses
on prophecy
The sermon at Faith Lutheran will use the Gospel of John 1:29-41. In these verses, John the Baptist gives testimony concerning Jesus Christ being the fulfillment of a prophecy that John was told he would witness.
In Christ, there are a multitude of prophecies that have been fulfilled, which is great comfort for the believer.
Sunday, Faith Lutheran Church will install its newly elected church officers for 2014.
The previous officers will be recognized.
‘Life is a Bowl of Cherries’ is theme
UNION – “Life is a Bowl of Cherries” is Pastor Sue Peeples’ theme for the 11 a.m. Sunday service at the United Methodist Church in Union. Fellowship and refreshments follow for a Vision team
meeting.
This week, the church plays host to fresh food alliance from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday Senior Lunch at noon and community food bank from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
The church hosts the NEO Colloquy – churches from Baker, Union and Wallowa counties – at 2 p.m.
