LA GRANDE – Brent Clapp Media Services has gone from home-based business to storefront enterprise, taking up quarters at 2010 Island Ave.
Clapp, who has lived in La Grande the past 15 years, offers videoproduction and photography services. His credits include national television shows, and productions for local corporate clients. He has filmed shows for “Steve’s Outdoor Adventures,” an Outdoors Channel program hosted by Steve West of La Grande.
In addition to video production and photography, Clapp helps people convert old media to new media, such as video tape to DVD, or conversion of bulk photographs to digital files. Services also include video streaming of live events such as sporting events, weddings and funerals.
To celebrate his move to the Island Avenue location, Clapp plans a grand opening Friday. He will be offering free Valentine’s Day portraits to singles and small groups.
Before moving to La Grande, Clapp studied media production at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, and taught videography and photography at that school.
He started his media services business in 2010, working out of his La Grande home. He said he is moving the business to the retail location in order to provide customers with better access to his services.
Carpenter Comcast’stop representative
BAKER CITY – Former Baker City resident Tina Carpenter has received a $3,000 bonus for being chosen as the top customer service representative in the nation for Comcast in December.
Carpenter, a 1984 Baker High School graduate, works for Comcast in Davis, Calif. She has worked for the company since March 3, 2003.
Winners are selected from a pool chosen by Comcast customers based on their Voice of the Customer scores, specifically on the question: “How satisfied are you with the overall service provided by the representative/technician today?”
Carpenter said she wasn’t aware of the contest until she learned she had won.
“I yelled, I was so surprised,” she said.
Carpenter lives in Marysville, Calif., with her husband of 28 years, Jasen. The couple have three married children and four grandsons.
She said her parents, Raymond and Liliane Green, taught her “to treat people well and they will be good to you.”
Baker City Realty hires Fouts
BAKER CITY – Baker City Realty has hired a member of the city’s arts community as a new broker.
Sherri Fouts has lived in Baker City since 2005 and her family owns and operates
Blue Mountain Fine Art, the local bronze foundry. Fouts also has 26 years of restaurant management experience and six years of office clerical work.
Baker City Realty owner Andrew Bryan said Fouts will further one of the company’s key niches: promoting Baker as an ideal relocation place for artists nationwide. She is familiar with dual agency, the prevalent arrangement in Baker where a broker may assist both the buyer and the seller.
Fouts joins Bryan and brokers Cindy Hunter and Ann Mehaffy.
“Sherri has a great deal of experience in a variety of industries, as a parent and as an active member of the Baker community,” Bryan said in a press release.
When not running the foundry, Sherri and her husband, Tyler, enjoy camping, fishing and other outdoor pursuits with their children and grandchildren in Eastern Oregon.
