La Grande, died Tuesday at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center at 1802 Gekeler Lane. A full obituary will be published later. Loveland Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

Raymond W. Chase, 44, of Cuba, Mo., and formerly of Baker City and Union, died in Childress, Texas, March 20. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. April 5 at

the Baker City Christian Church with Jesse Whitford officiating.

Rebecca G. Miller, 83, of

‘Bonnie’ Yvonne Pauline Chandler

La Grande

1937-2014

“Bonnie” Yvonne Pauline Chandler, 77, of La Grande, died March 19 at Willow Brook Terrace in Pendleton. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elgin Church of the Nazarene, 11th and Birch in Elgin.

Bonnie was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Prairie City to Evert Arbogast and Bertha Elliott. She grew up and went to school near Ritter and then Elgin.

Bonnie married the love of her life, George William Chandler, on June 1, 1954. After 50 years of loving marriage, in 2004, they renewed their wedding vows.

Throughout her life, Bonnie was employed as a daycare provider, a cake-decorator (creating beautiful wedding cakes as well as elaborate birthday cakes for her grandchildren), an Education Service District bus driver for the disabled and a church janitor. She owned a second-hand store in Imbler and was an in-home care provider/housecleaner for the elderly.

Bonnie’s hobbies included cake decorating, planting flowers and watching them grow, camping, riding four-wheelers, riding horses and picking huckleberries. She was an avid horse rider growing up. After her marriage, living at the Lapover Ranch as a newlywed, she spent many hours riding with her husband into the Eagle Cap Wilderness while he worked there as an outfitter.

Bonnie was a member of the Elgin Nazarene Church since June 23, 1963. She was a Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years and spent time on “Work and Witness” trips to the Dominican Republic and Africa. She lived her life in service to the Lord and Savior of her life, Jesus Christ, and to the Nazarene Church. She was awarded the Sunday School Teacher Award as well as an award for faithful service to the church.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, George Chandler of La Grande (formerly of Elgin); her children and their spouses, William Chandler (Theresa) of Elgin, Robert Chandler (Cynthia) of Elgin, Jesse Chandler (Tonya) of Elgin, Jerry Chandler (Michelle) of Elgin and Sandi Palmer (Steve) of Delaware, Ohio; brothers and their spouses, Don Arbogast (Claudia) of Elgin, and Butch Arbogast (Carolyn) of Elgin; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Wilma Fruitts and Ina Arbogast, who died as an infant; her grandson, Brian Chandler, and her granddaughter, Mckenzie Chandler, who died as an infant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Elgin Church of the Nazarene.

Norman Gail Haynes

La Grande

1942-2014

Norman Gail Haynes, 71, of La Grande died March 25 in his daughter’s home surrounded by family.

Services will be held at

10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1802 Gekeler Lane, La Grande.

Norman was born May 12, 1942, in Bend to Gail and Ruthie Haynes, the youngest of three children.

In 1959, he married Beverly Arlene Boe, his wife of 55 years. That same year, Norman enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for six years as an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the Air Force, Norman began his career as a logger. Norman logged for 40 years and was considered one of the best fallers in the area. He also spent many summers as a faller for the Forest Service during fire season.

Norman was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of La Grande; children and their spouses, Dawn (Duane) Hill of La Grande, Mark (Tracy) Haynes of La Grande, Kim (Shawn) Gorham of La Grande, and Kyle (Kim) White of Beaverton. He also leaves behind a sister, Becky Haynes of Utah, and a brother, Gary Haynes of Missouri. Norman is survived by 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Trevah Jane Hulden

Union

1921-2014

Trevah Jane Hulden, 92, of Union, died March 20 at her residence.

There will be no services at this time.

Trevah was born July 29, 1921, to Casper Weissenfluh and Mary Ellen Arbuckle in Long Creek. She lived in Arlington for a time before making her residence in Union.

Trevah graduated from Ukiah High School, and hearing the call of duty, she then served her country with the Navy Waves (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). After returning from the Navy, she attended Oregon State University, earning her degree in education. She taught school in Pendleton until she moved to Arlington, where she met her husband. They were wheat and cattle ranchers.

Some of her hobbies included genealogy, watercolor painting, drawing and oil painting. She loved reading history.

In her 70s, Trevah learned German at Eastern Oregon University so that she could travel to Guttannen, Switzerland, to meet a first cousin, Simone Von Weissenfluh, and his family, in order to converse with them in their native language. This led to several visits between the two families over the next 20 years.

Trevah is survived by her children and their spouses, Shari Mashek (James) of Baker City, Bob Hulden (Ann) of Union and Beth Hamlin (Mark) of Corvallis; brother Ward Weissenfluh (wife Neva) of Rockway Beach; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Hulden; father and mother, Casper and Mary Ellen Weissenfluh; and sister, Elris Von Weissenfluh.
