HIGHLIGHTS: Righteousness to be focus of message

During the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the La Grande Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Mike Armayor will speak on righteousness as found in the Bible.
He will explore how it applies to us who are totally unrighteous and cannot produce it, but is absolutely necessary for entrance into God’s eternal kingdom.
Message focuses on Jesus’ first miracle
John 2:1-11 will be the expository preaching text for the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Grace Bible Church in La Grande.
Pastor Phil Garwood will unpack this passage about Jesus’ first miracle at a wedding in Cana, where he miraculously turned water into wine. Bible study is at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.
The public is invited to join in a lively discussion on biblical worldview every Thursday at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Zion Lutheran holds Ash Wednesday
Zion Lutheran Church in La Grande will worship at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday with Pastor Colleen Nelson. Fellowship follows the service.
The church is participating in Monday’s Third Space Cafe at the K House. The monthly gathering runs from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and features an open-ended conversations about one common theme. February’s theme is “Social Media and Relationships. Cookies and treats, coffee and tea will be served.
At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday the StudentWorshipArtTeam will meet at the church.
On Ash Wednesday, there will be a brief spoken service with the Imposition of Ashes at noon instead of the usual evening service. The midday service will give congregants to come during their lunch hour, with plenty of time to get back to work. Attendees are asked to gather quietly in the front of the sanctuary.
Soup supper precedes service
LA GRANDE, ENTERPRISE – The sermon at Faith Lutheran will use Luke’s account from chapter nine as we consider the two men with Jesus.
The climax of the Epiphany is Jesus revealing Himself on the Mount of Transfiguration to Moses and Elijah.
The reality of life after death is verified in this Epiphany of Jesus. Services are at 10 a.m. in La Grande and 2 p.m. in Enterprise.
Faith Lutheran congregants will gather Wednesday for a soup supper at
6 p.m. and the Imposition of Ashes at 7 p.m. The midweek Lenten theme will be “Places of the Passion.”
Cove’s GCL celebrates Transfiguration
COVE – Grace Community Lutheran Church celebrates Transfiguration Sunday with a worship service beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Carl Seelhoff will preach about God’s children, drawn from 1 John 3. Adult Sunday school begins at
9 a.m., and fellowship follows the service.
An Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
The men’s Bible study and breakfast meets every Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Transportation is available for all activities.
Episcopal Church serves brunch
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will observe the last Sunday after the Epiphany with Holy Eucharist at 9 a.m. The Rev. Kathryn Macek will preside and preach. A pre-Lenten brunch of pancakes, sausage, bacon and applesauce will follow the service.
Centering Prayer is offered Tuesdays and Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer is offered Thursdays; both services are at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel.
There will be two services on Ash Wednesday, at
12:15 p.m. in the chapel and at 6 p.m. in the church.
On Friday, St. Ann’s Guild will hold their monthly meeting at 2 p.m. in the parish hall.
Communion is open to everyone
The La Grande United Methodist Church will meet at 10 a.m. to celebrate God and partake of Communion.
The church celebrates an inclusive Communion: all who hear this invitation and desire to experience God and Christ in the bread and the fruit of the vine are welcome.
Unfermented grape juice is used in the place of wine and gluten free bread is provided. Child care is available. Coffee and fellowship will be offered after service.
Boy Scout Troop 514 leads service
Boy Scout Troop 514 will be leading the 9:30 a.m. worship service at the First Presbyterian Church in
La Grande.
In appreciation of the church’s sponsorship, Troop 514 has taken part in the service every year on Super Bowl Sunday.
The troop will also be holding a fundraising pancake breakfast before the service at 8 a.m. and also after church.
The 6 p.m. Community Fellowship Dinner continues on Wednesday.
