A wildland grass fire is burning at the Umatilla Army Depot and has caused multiple crashes and closed Highway 82 near Hermiston, according to several news outlets in the area.
The East Oregonian in Pendleton is reporting that fire departments from around the region have responded to the black, which burned over the top of the hundreds of cement igloos on the property. The cement igloos once held munitions for the Army. The EO is also reporting that at least one building has been destroyed by the fire.
Smoke from the fire has limited visibility in the area, causing a crash involving four motorcycles, a Mini Cooper, an SUV and a sedan, according to the EO.
