BRIEFLY: A new siren may be in Union’s future
Published 8:57 am Monday, September 18, 2017
UNION — The Union City Council gave Assistant City Administrator Rod McKee the green light Monday night to purchase a new emergency siren and have it installed. The council via consensus, not a vote, gave McKee the authority to spend $18,000 to obtain a new siren. The siren will be mounted on a pole near city hall. It will replace a siren that sat atop city hall for many years before it was removed earlier this year to make room for a bell tower. The siren will alert Union’s volunteer firefighters and emergency medical responders of emergencies.
