OHA reports new COVID-19 death in Union County

SALEM — The Oregon Health Authority announced one new death in Union County from COVID-19 in its report on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

The death of an 81-year-old woman marks the 38th COVID-19 death in the county since the start of the pandemic. The woman tested positive on Sept. 13 and died at her residence on Sept. 20. According to OHA, the presence of underlying conditions is not yet confirmed.

In the report, Union County totaled 21 new COVID-19 cases on Sept. 20, while the report did not contain any positive cases in Wallowa County.

Across Oregon, 1,707 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases were reported. OHA also documented 29 new deaths, bringing the state’s total to 3,623.

On the report from Sept. 22, OHA reported another 16 positive cases in Union County and 13 cases in Wallowa County on Sept. 21. As a state, 2,312 new confirmed and presumptive cases were reported, with 26 new deaths. The Sept. 22 update brings Union County’s total positive cases to 2,764 since the pandemic began, while Wallowa County is up to 521.
