BAKER CITY — Eastern Oregon students have the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., on Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative’s dime this summer.
The cooperative is offering an all-expenses paid trip in June to a high school and home-schooled juniors who live in OTEC’s service territory, which encompasses Baker, Grant, Harney and Union counties.
The student would be representing OTEC on the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Washington, D.C., Youth Tour on June 18-24. He or she will tour the nation’s capital, listen to speakers explain the importance of local electric cooperatives and meet Oregon’s representatives and senators.
The Youth Tour was canceled the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Applications for the Youth Tour are now available at www.otec.coop/dc-youth-tour and must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
