ENTERPRISE — As fires rage in Wallowa County, the Lostine Firewise Community is putting into action some of the preparation it has undertaken for an event like this.

With Imnaha and the Lostine Canyon under various levels of evacuation notices, the community is making preparations for accommodations should they need to evacuate.

Nikki Beachy, the coordinator for the Northeast Oregon Firewise Community at Wallowa Resources in Enterprise, said in a Sept. 6 press release she is not currently aware of housing available in Imnaha. If housing should become needed, community members are being asked to sign up to offer to meet those needs.

Anyone willing to sign up may do so online at https://tinyurl.com/firewisesignup.

Accommodations for large animals have been arranged. However, there is a place for potential hosts to mark on the sign-up if they would allow pets like dogs or cats, etc.

For more information, contact Beachy at Wallowa Resources, 541-263-1305.
