High school volleyball: Union falls to Joseph, wins over Wallowa at crossover tournament

JOSEPH — The Union volleyball team ended Saturday, Sept. 24, with a win over Wallowa, but a loss to host Joseph, while playing in the Old Oregon Crossover Tournament.

The Bobcats fell to Joseph, 3-1 in the morning session of the tournament. Union did win the first set, 25-23, but then fell 25-20, 25-16 and 25-17 to fall in the match.
The outcome turned better later in the day for Union as the Bobcats downed Wallowa, 3-2. After seeing the Cougars win the first set, 25-16, Union came back in the second set for a 25-12 win. Wallowa took the third set, 25-18, but Union tied up the match with a 25-17 fourth-set victory. In the fifth and deciding set, the Bobcats pulled out a 15-11 match win.
Union (2-11 overall, 1-1 1A Old Oregon League) looks to go above .500 in the league standings with a match on the road at Elgin (4-9 overall, 0-3 league) on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
