State police seek help with Union County poaching case

ELGIN — The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help with a Union County poaching case.

According to a Thursday, Oct. 6, press release, a branch antlered bull elk in the Wenaha wildlife management unit, north of Elgin, was shot with a rifle on the evening of Sept. 30, one day prior to the opening of the controlled rifle buck deer season.

The bull was shot on private timberland off Kingsbury Lane near Darr Road. No part of the elk was removed and the bull was left to waste. 

State police is asking the public’s help in locating the individuals responsible for the poaching. OSP Fish & Wildlife Division is urging anyone with information about the case to call the Oregon State Police TIP line at 1-800-452-7888, *OSP (*677), or email at TIP@osp.oregon.gov and reference case number SP22-265831.
