- Members of the Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics Employee Activities Committee picked up 300 pounds of food donations from the Bouten Construction team to add to our annual holiday food drive. During the holidays, GRH’s Employee Activities Committee holds a food drive to help fill the shelves of the local food banks in time for Christmas. Over the years, we have partnered with other local businesses and community partners, and we continue to do so. This year, our long-standing, favorite Christmas tradition was expanded to include Bouten Construction partners to the Team GRH food drive.
In early December, as our annual food donation efforts were ramping up, Tracy Johnson with Bouten Construction reached out to ask if there was a holiday project our two organizations could do together that would benefit the local community. As it turns out, Bouten Construction also has the tradition of and employee-led food drive for the Christmas season, as well. It was an easy choice of what to do.
Amber Palmer, who works in the GRH Education Department and leads the EAC, said committee members were excited when she told them that the Bouten team wanted to contribute to the local food drive.
Arrangements were made to meet on Friday, Dec. 16, at the “Bouten Command Center” located across from the Hospital campus in the Central Elementary field and collect donations from the local construction crew.
“I was thrilled when we walked in and saw just how much food they were donating. There was 300 pounds of food waiting for us,” Amber said.
Bouten’s Todd Kroll got everyone organized into a brigade line, which made short work of loading up the 300 pounds of food into Amber’s truck. The contribution brought GRH’s total delivery to the local food banks up to nearly 1,000 pounds Amber said.
“We were so excited to deliver all that food this year. And it was really nice to get to know a few members of the Bouten crew who joined our efforts to serve Union County,” she said.
GRH would like to thank team Bouten for joining our efforts this Christmas to make a difference where it is most needed. Our efforts to serve our community often extend beyond our doors as we look for opportunities to give back this amazing place we all call home.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year from all of us at Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics.
