JOSEPH — The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture in Joseph is replacing its exhibit director since Dawn Norman has resigned, Executive Director Cheryl North Coughlan said in a press release.

Norman, who has worked for the center for two years, resigned to spend more time with her husband and kids and to work with her husband starting a construction business.

“She was an excellent worker,” Coughlan said.

The new exhibit director will take over all programs, Coughlan said, and will be a full-time position. The exhibit director works to advance the mission of the center through the management of events, exhibits, the Wallowa Valley Festival of the Arts and the Youth Arts Festival.

The exhibit director serves under the executive director and is part of the Josephy Center team of staff members and volunteers. The position is 35 hours a week. Salary will be based on experience, ranging from $35,000-$40,000.

LA GRANDE — Can your boat building skills hold water, or will you need to bail out this summer? Find out at the annual Morgan Lake Regatta, hosted by La Grande Parks and Recreation.

Event activities include live music and a boat race in which participants will build their own nonmotorized boat. The teams are capped at three participants. Life jackets are required to participate in the race.

Prizes for first place, the most creative design and others will be awarded to participants.

The regatta will take place on Saturday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Morgan Lake.

The event is free and open to all ages.
