At the conclusion of the La Grande softball camp on Saturday, July 22, 2023, present and future La Grande softball players gathered for a group picture.

LA GRANDE — For one day, the players became the coaches as the La Grande softball team hosted a skills camp for future Tigers on Saturday, July 22, aided by members of the La Grande coaching staff.

Starting in the morning to beat the heat, future Tigers learned infield and outfield techniques before advancing to the hitting stations to take some swings with the bats. With the skills session completed, campers divided into three teams to play a series of games versus each other in a controlled coach pitch situation.

“Everyone had a great time at the camp and the team appreciates the continued support of the community,” said La Grande softball coach Walt Anderson.

The proceeds from the camp will be used in the purchase of a new hitting cage currently in the planning stages at Sam Marcum Field.
