LA GRANDE — Eastern Oregon University is helping bring history into the future while teaching students about the past.
Forbes recently named Eastern’s online history degree program as one of the best in the country.
The team at Forbes specifically looked at online bachelor’s degree programs — taking tuition costs, accreditation, common coursework and enrollment types into consideration.
Eastern was chosen in part due to students’ ability to align their coursework with their interests and goals. Students begin their education with world and U.S. history before moving onto upper level classes covering European, Western and comparative history.
Along with Eastern’s use of the common application, Forbes listed the university’s relatively low student-to-faculty ratio and high retention rate as pros.
Nine other universities also made the list: Oregon State University, Bellevue University, Eastern New Mexico University, Sam Houston State University, SUNY Empire State College, University of Memphis, Utah State University, Granite State College and Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
