Sports season set to roll for Tigers

LA GRANDE — The La Grande sports season is off to a start this week with football, volleyball and soccer in action.

New head coach Dalton Sheets and the Tiger football team have a chance to see league foes Ontario and Baker City along with 3A Burns at the Ontario Jamboree on Friday, Aug. 25, with the teams taking the field starting at 5 p.m.
La Grande volleyball fans will have a full day of action as the Tigers host the Hannah Cashell Tournament on Aug. 26. The action starts early with the Tigers meeting Stanfield at 7:30 a.m. to kick off the day. La Grande is also scheduled to play both Madras and Ontario later in the day.
Boys soccer will offer local fans two games to catch as the Tigers start the season at home against Fruitland, Idaho, on Aug. 24 with the match starting at 4 p.m. La Grande will also be home on Aug. 26 with Payette, Idaho, in town with an early start of 10 a.m.

While their counterparts are home on Aug. 24, new coach Chris Gianandrea and the girls soccer team are on the road to start the season in Fruitland on Aug.24 for a 4:30 p.m. start time. La Grande will return home for a game against Payette on Aug. 26 with the girls following the boys game and a noon start time.
