NORTH POWDER — Not a serve has crossed the net, but the state Class 1A coaches are already looking toward a state run by the Powder Valley volleyball team.

The Oregon School Activities Association released its coaches fall preseason volleyball poll on Tuesday, Aug. 22, and with 70 votes, Powder Valley volleyball ranks fourth. Two state coaches actually picked the Badgers to win the state tournament.

Damascus Christian sits atop the poll standings with St. Paul coming in second. Just ahead of the Badgers in third is the Crane Mustangs.

Coach Marji Lind and Powder Valley put the early ranking to the test on Aug.25, opening the season with a trip to Elgin for a jamboree.
