College men’s soccer: Eastern Oregon plays out scoreless draw at Ottawa University Arizona

SURPRISE, Ariz. — The Mountaineers men’s soccer team came away with a tie in their most recent non-conference match at Ottawa University Arizona on Thursday, August 31.

Eastern Oregon was out shot 19-12, but managed to keep the Spirit scoreless behind a six-save clean sheet from Mountaineers goalkeeper Eric Canela.
Ottawa University Arizona outshot Eastern Oregon 10-5 in the first half and 9-7 in the second half. The Mountaineers played aggressively in order to limit any potential goals, tallying four yellow cards.
Offensively, Edgar Romero Perez led Eastern Oregon with three shots, while Carlos Rodriguez, Rudy Salinas-Solorio, and Abner Hernandez each had two shots.

The draw brings Eastern Oregon’s record to 0-0-2 on the season. Up next, the Mountaineers are slated to travel to Glendale, Arizona for a matchup with Arizona Christian University on Sept. 4. The match is set to kick off at 10 a.m.
