High school volleyball: Cove falls to Myrtle Point in bracket play of Dufur Classic

DUFUR — The Cove volleyball team is back home and ready to start 1A Old Oregon League play after a day of action at the Dufur Classic on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Leopards opened play in the morning, placing first in their group from pool play. Cove advanced to the afternoon bracket to meet Myrtle Point.
“We had two varsity players out, but Reegan O’Rourke stepped up as our setter and Hannah Robbins played libero for us,” Cove head coach Chantele Burgess said.
Cove stayed close to Myrtle Point throughout the match, falling 25-18 in set one and 25-19 in the second set. The Bobcats closed out the match with a 25-21 victory over Cove.

“This was overall a good tournament for us,” Burgess said. “In between games, we got to cheer on the boys in their win against Lyle/Wishram.”
Cove (0-4 overall) begins league play Sept. 5 at home against Powder Valley (4-0 overall, 1-0 1A Old Oregon League). The first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
