HELIX — After coming close a few times early in the season to a win, Cove found its first victory, while competing in the Helix Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 9.

The Leopards played pool play in the morning, entering bracket play in the afternoon facing 3A McLoughlin. Cove picked up the win, taking the first set 25-17 and celebrating win number one after a 25-23 victory in the second set.

Advancing in the bracket, the Leopards met 2A Heppner, who cruised to a 25-12, 25-12 victory to end Cove’s tournament stay.

Cove (1-6 overall) finally begins 1A Old Oregon League play on Sept. 12 with a home match against Joseph (5-1 overall). The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
