ELGIN — After seeing a nailbiter versus Crane the previous week go to the Mustangs, the Imbler football team evened up their league record to 1-1 with a 42-14 victory over the previously undefeated Elgin Huskies on Friday, Sept. 22, in Elgin.

Elgin scored its 14 points early in the contest, going up the field on their first possession and into the end zone.

“We knew we had to make some defensive adjustments to shut them down,” Imbler head coach Dustan Adams said. “In the second half, we played ball control and just kept them from offensive plays. We just wore down the clock for the win.”

Senior quarterback Trevor Treat led the controlled charge with Dallin Rasmussen pounding the ground game to eat up the clock against the Huskies.

“I give tremendous credit to our defensive line for being able to hold Elgin quarterback Ty McLaughlin in check,” Adams said.

Imbler (3-1 overall, 1-1 1A 8-Man Special District 2) is back before the home crowd on Sept. 29 hosting Powder Valley (0-4 overall, 0-2 1A 8-Man Special District 2) for a league game.

“Powder Valley played the toughest schedule I have seen this year,” Adams said. “This is not a typical 0-4 team coming to play us.”

Elgin (3-1 overall, 0-1 1A 8-Man Special District 2) will enjoy a bye week before hitting the road for the trip to meet Adrian (3-1 overall, 2-0 1A 8-Man Special 2) on Oct. 6.
