High school volleyball: Powder Valley gym busy for Old Oregon League Crossover Tournament

NORTH POWDER — Volleyball teams from the 1A Old Oregon League joined Saturday, Sept. 23, in Powder Valley for the Old Oregon League Crossover Tournament, a chance for teams to see what may be coming down the road come league tournament time.

The host Badgers kept home fans happy, finishing the day 2-0. Powder Valley downed Union 2-0 (25-10, 25-20). The team finished up the home tournament with a 2-0 victory over Echo (25-6, 25-11).

In addition to the loss to the Badgers, Union also fell to Joseph as the Eagles won 25-19, 25-20 over the Bobcats.

Elgin also finished the day 0-2, falling to Imbler (25-14, 26-24) in the early match and seeing a loss to Wallowa (25-17, 25-17) to wrap up the Huskies’ tournament play.

In addition to the victory over Elgin, Imbler also picked up a win over Pilot Rock for the tournament, cruising to a 25-12, 25-13 victory.

Cove also had a perfect tournament, beating Nixyaawii to start the day, 25-12, 25-10, 25-8 and heading home after downing Griswold, 21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-16.
