College women’s soccer: Mountaineers tie Owls in conference clash

LA GRANDE — The Eastern Oregon University women’s soccer team remained undefeated in their eighth contest of the 2023 season.

The Mountaineers tallied their fourth tie of the season, but have yet to take a loss this year. Eastern Oregon capitalized off a late goal to tie Oregon Tech 1-1 to move to 4-0-4 on the year and 2-0-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
Despite holding an 8-4 advantage in shots in the first half, Eastern Oregon found itself trailing at halftime. Kiana Jacobson scored her fourth goal of the year to give the Owls a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, the Mountaineers upped their shot total to 10 in the half in an effort to find an equalizing goal. With the clock winding down, freshman midfielder Peyton Jacaway found the back of the net in the 89th minute. Emmy Williams and Karina DeYoung assisted on the goal.

Rylee Schei recorded six saves in the tie, while Kana Mateaki and Erika Skindlov each led the way with five shots each.
Up next, the Mountaineers are scheduled to host Southern Oregon at 7 p.m. on Sept. 30.
