Start celebrating Halloween early at floating pumpkin patch

LA GRANDE — La Grande Parks and Recreation is putting on its annual floating pumpkin patch on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Pool, 401 Palmer Ave. The event is for all ages and includes hunting for pumpkins while swimming in the dark, Halloween music, pumpkin races, glow sticks and more. Play Scrabble at Fresh Foods Oct. 1

LA GRANDE — Scrabble Sunday begins at 1 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Market Place Fresh Foods, 1912 Fourth St., La Grande. Open to all, the free activity features prizes for top finishers and food and drinks available for purchase from the 4th Street Bistro while you play.

Art Grief Group offered in October

LA GRANDE — An Art Grief Group meets on Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 4, from 6-8 p.m. in October at Art Center East, 1006 Penn Ave., La Grande. Led by Rebecca Curry, the weekly group is an alternative to traditional talk support groups, a place where you can experience support and express yourself by making art together with others. Any kind of loss is honored, whether you’ve lost a person, pet, relationship, ability, or something you never had. No art experience is necessary. Must be age 18 or older. Family Nights planned

LA GRANDE — Union County Family Support is planning a Family Night on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 5-7 p.m. There is no charge to attend. The gathering includes dinner, a parenting support group, child care and teen activities.
