Men’s college soccer: Eastern Oregon misfires in shutout loss to Southern Oregon

LA GRANDE — The Eastern Oregon men’s soccer team mustered little offense on Saturday, Sept. 30, falling to Southern Oregon University, 3-0, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference contest at Community Stadium.

The first half of the match saw Southern Oregon take control as the Mountaineers struggled to find a groove. At the 28:09 mark, Adrian Villegas scored the opening goal, assisted by Alan Gaytan, putting the Raiders in the lead 1-0. EOU racked up three shots in the half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Southern Oregon built off of its strong first half early. Alan Gaytan found the net at 45:54, extending the lead to 2-0 with an assist from Tybalt Thornberry. Mustafa Daggig added another goal at 55:42, assisted by Evan Norconk, for the game’s final score.
Eastern Oregon (2-5-3 overall, 2-3-1 CCC) will be back in action Oct. 6 at Carroll College. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
