High school football: Imbler keeps Badgers winless

IMBLER — The Imbler football team made the argument the Panthers are a top 1A team, downing Powder Valley 42-8 on Friday, Sept. 29, and keeping the Badgers winless on the year.

Imbler is currently sixNo. 6th in the Oregon School Activities Association’s rankings.

The points were on the board quickly for the Panthers. IImbler scored with just 17 seconds off the game clock after kickoff. From that point, the Imbler defense was the star of the game, according to Panther head coach Dustan Adams.

“I was pleased with how the defense played,” he said. “Using our defense, we were able to control the time of possession throughout the game.”

The Panthers stayed with the ground game, using up the clock with Dallin Rasmussen and Trevor Treat taking the majority of the duties. Well ahead at the half, Adams was able to utilize his younger players in the latter part of the game.

No individual or game statistics were available.

Imbler (4-1 overall, 2-1 1A 8-Man Special District 2) begins a series of two road games, first meeting Cove (3-2 overall, 1-1 1A 8-Man Special District 2) on Oct. 5.

Powder Valley (0-5 overall, 0-3 1A 8-Man Special District 2) returns home on Oct. 6 searching for the first victory of the year against Union (1-3 overall, 0-2 1A 8-Man Special District 2). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
