High school volleyball: Union rolls through Pilot Rock, Nixyaawii

PILOT ROCK —The Union volleyball team remains undefeated in the Old Oregon League after a perfect day of play on Saturday, Sept. 30, on the road.

Starting the day early, Union traveled to Pilot Rock to take on the Rockets. Showing no effects of the early morning trip, Union grabbed the first set 25-17 followed by a second-set victory 25-11. The match ended with the Bobcats winning the third set, 25-18.

A few hours later, Union was back on the volleyball court taking on the Nixyaawii Golden Eagles. This match proved to be easier than the earlier win with Union taking a first set 25-13 victory. The second and third sets moved quickly with the Bobcats winning 25-8 and 25-7 to close out a perfect day.

Game and individual statistics for the matches were not available.

The bus rides continues for Union on Oct. 5 with a trip to Griswold (5-9 overall, 2-3 1A Old Oregon League).

With just a few weeks of volleyball season left, Union continues to sit second in the league standings behind only Powder Valley with both claiming no league losses. The two teams are not scheduled to meet until a possible match during the district tournament starting Oct. 20.
