LA GRANDE — The La Grande girls soccer team allowed more goals in a loss on Tuesday, Oct. 3, than the Tigers have seen get past them the entire previous season. Taking the field at home against Lewiston, Idaho, downed La Grande 6-0 in nonleague action.

“Lewiston is a caliber of team that if playing in the Oregon 4A ranks, they would be in the state championship game,” La Grande head coach Chris Gianandrea said. “They are well coached a draw from a large pool of talent.”

The Tigers were down 2-0 at the half with Gianandrea giving high praise to his keeper for keeping the game in check.

“We could put together a highlight reel of saves for what Lyndie (Isaacson) did today,” he said. “Even allowing six goals, she was outstanding with the shots they took on goal that she saved.”

Done with the Idaho team, La Grande (7-2-0 overall, 2-0-0 4A Greater Oregon League) returns to league action on Oct. 5, hosting Pendleton/Nixyaawii (3-5-0 overall, 1-1-0 4A Greater Oregon League) at 4 p.m. at Community Stadium.

“We love playing at EOU as the surface is always true and faster than grass,” Gianandrea said. “Having a game on turf also helps us when we travel and play teams on the west side where turf is common. We feel we are ready for Pendleton.”
