NORTH POWDER — A North Powder man was arrested by Oregon State Police following a hit-and-run of property while driving under the influence on Sunday, Oct. 1, according to the OSP media log.
Ruben Alipio, 31, was taken into custody for driving under the influence of intoxicants, failure to perform the duties of a driver in an accident with property damage, reckless driving, driving while suspended or revoked and violating a no contact order.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Oct. 1, Trooper Kainoa Delatori responded to the area on a report of a possible DUII crash at Highway 237 and Center Street, according to the log. Dispatch advised that the driver — later identified as Alipio — had left the scene on foot. The reporting party also provided law enforcement with a potential address for the driver.
Delatori arrived in North Powder and made contact with Alipio, according to OSP. He had Alipio step outside the residence and asked if he would perform a standardized field sobriety test. Alipio was taken into custody given his poor performance on the field test.
Alipio was booked in the Union County Jail, according to the media log. Alipio provided a breath sample, which was over the legal limit.
