High school volleyball: Imbler hosts Pilot Rock in OOL play-in match

IMBLER — The task for the Imbler volleyball team on Tuesday, Oct. 17, is very clear. A win before the home crowd against Pilot Rock and the Panthers can begin packing for Baker City on Oct. 21.

A loss translates to the end of the season.

Imbler will welcome the Rockets for a 1A Old Oregon League play-in match starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Panther gym.

The Rockets invade Imbler with an 11-11 overall record and a 4-6 1A Old Oregon League showing and have won three of their last five matches.

Imbler has dropped three of its last four matches and post a 15-13 overall record and a 5-5 mark in the 1A Old Oregon League. Imbler and Pilot Rock met only once during the season as both teams took part in the OOL Crossover Tournament on Sept. 23. The Panthers came away with a 2-0 victory.

Leopards, Huskies meet to earn tournament berth

ELGIN — One team, Elgin or Cove, will be busy this upcoming Friday, Oct. 20, taking the court in the Baker High School gym at the 1A Old Oregon League volleyball tournament. The other team will be sitting at home, preparing for the upcoming wrestling or basketball season.

The Leopards travel to Elgin on Tuesday, Oct. 17, for a 1A Old Oregon League play-in match with the winner going on and the loser seeing the end of the season. The first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Cove enters with an 11-13 overall record and a 4-6 1A Old Oregon League record. Cove has come on in the final weeks of the regular season, winning four of its final five matches.

Elgin boasts a 12-12 overall record to go with a 6-4 1A Old Oregon League record. 

These two teams met on the opening day of the season on Aug. 25 during a jamboree setting with no scores recorded.
