LA GRANDE — Many downtown La Grande stores will remain open until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, as part of the first Thursday of the month “Sip Shop Repeat Local” event orchestrated by the Union County Chamber of Commerce.
Every first Thursday of the month shoppers can expect to shop and explore their local merchant stores for those special hometown gifts and leisure experiences.
“For just $20, attendees can acquire a special tumbler available through the chamber,” Union County Chamber Membership Coordinator Susan Burnett said. “This tumbler not only serves as your ticket to exclusive discounts, but also acts as a passport to discover the hidden treasures of the participating merchants and restaurants offering delightful discounts and specials.”
For the Nov. 2 event, the 2023 tumblers for sippers and shoppers will be available for $10.
Tumblers can be purchased at the Union County Chamber of Commerce office, 207 Depot St., La Grande.
“While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up a specially curated map, highlighting the stores and restaurants participating in this lively event,” Burnett said. “Explore their unique offerings and take full advantage of the discounts and specials available.”
Another bonus to the Sip Shop Repeat Local event is that it offers a chance to win a monthly gift basket, provided by the Chamber and merchants.
Along Depot Street, there will be pop-up vendors during the event, with an outdoor setup near the chamber office.
“In the winter months, these vendors find a cozy spot within the stores, with locations changing each month,” Burnett said. “Many of these vendors feature locally produced items, making it the perfect opportunity to buy a locally made product and support local businesses.”
Each month’s Sip Shop Repeat Local event comes with its own distinctive theme. Shoppers are alerted to look for certain seasonal icons hidden within the stores, or there are photo opportunities with fun characters like Han Solo or Chewbacca, or even free sunglasses to make the evening more memorable.
The Nov. 2 event will carry the theme of being “Thankful.”
“Don’t miss out on what promises to be an unforgettable night in La Grande downtown,” Burnett said.
