High school girls soccer: Tigers open state soccer tournament at home

LA GRANDE — The La Grande girls soccer team will have the opportunity to win a first-round state playoff match and still have time for trick-or-treating on Halloween as the Tigers welcome North Bend on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Eastern Oregon University.

North Bend arrives in La Grande with a 9-4-1 overall record and a second-place finish in the 4A Sky Em League. The Bulldogs posted victories in their final three matches with the most recent loss coming to Marist Catholic on Oct. 4, a game that saw North Bend held scoreless in a 6-0 loss.

La Grande finished the second half of the season going 5-2-1 with one loss coming at the hands of a talented Lewiston, Idaho, team and the other loss and the tie coming at the hands of Pendleton/Nixyaawii.

The Tigers host after picking up the No. 7 ranking, according to the Oregon School Activities Association while North Bend comes in ranked No. 10.
