LA GRANDE — The top-seeded Eastern Oregon University volleyball team continued its dominance of the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

The Mountaineers secured a decisive 25-17, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20 win over No. 7-seeded Corban on Saturday, Nov. 11, to win the conference tournament at Quinn Coliseum.

The conference tournament title is the second consecutive for No. 3-ranked Eastern Oregon, which will now aim to carry the momentum from the tournament into the upcoming NAIA National Championships.

“I’m so proud of how our team played tonight,” EOU head coach Kaki McLean Morehead said. “We knew going into this game that it was not going to be an easy one, but we needed to just do our jobs, play Mountie volleyball, and control the things we can control.”

Eastern Oregon (30-1 overall) received standout performances from Ashton Haughton and Keira Vaughn, contributing 16 and 15 kills, respectively. Hannah Ledgerwood led the Mounties with 33 total assists, while libero Hailey Arritola provided crucial defensive support with 17 digs. EOU was led in blocking by Mylie Mills and Kiauna Mack, combining for half of the team’s 18 blocks.

Corban entered the season and the CCC preseason favorite but fell to Eastern Oregon for the regular season title. The Warriors defeated the third seed and No. 12-ranked Southern Oregon in the semifinals to advance to the title match. Corban was led by CCC Player of the Year Rylee Troutman, who had 15 kills, three digs and two blocks.

“The Cascade Conference is one of the toughest and this tournament is an example of that. It helps prepare us in the best way for the postseason,” McLean Morehead said. “I’m excited to see what this team can do in the next few weeks.”

Both teams earned the conference’s automatic qualifiers to the NAIA National Tournament. They will find out their opponents when the NAIA announces official qualifiers, with the first and second round set to begin later next week.
