Powder Valley student-athletes perform in classroom

NORTH POWDER — With the fall sports season now completed, the Oregon School Activities Association is recognizing schools excelling both on the court and field and in the classroom.

In the 1A 8-man football classification, the Powder Valley football team wrapped up the season with a cumulative grade point average of 3.08, sixth in the state among the division.

In addition to a third-place finish at the state 1A tournament, Powder Valley’s volleyball squad placed seventh among all the state’s 1A teams in the classroom with a 3.81 GPA.

Combining with Baker High School for the boys cross-country season, the team placed sixth in the state standings for the classroom with a 3.80 GPA. The girls cross-country team ended the grading period with a 3.54 GPA, good for 14th in the standings.
