Family Search library is open to all

NORTHEAST OREGON — On Sunday, Nov. 26, members of the regional congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will speak during Sacrament services. The second hour of services will be Relief Society, Priesthood and youth group meetings.

The “Come, Follow Me” lesson for the week of Nov. 20 is based on the epistles of Peter and focus on how we can find joy, even during times of trials and suffering.

The Family Search library in the building on Gekeler Lane is open on Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3p.m., and Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Everyone is invited to visit and work on their family history for free.

Inquiry group studying Sikhism

LA GRANDE — The La Grande United Methodist Church will worship Sunday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. The sermon is based on Matthew 25:31-46 and is titled “We’re Good Goats.” A potluck follows the service.

The Religious Inquiry Group, which meets at 9:30 on Sunday mornings in the downstairs library, is currently learning about Sikhism.

Bible class on Sunday lesson offered before worship

LA GRANDE — St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in La Grande on Sunday, Nov. 26, will celebrate Holy Eucharist with Rev. Mary Lujan at 10 a.m.. There will be a coffee hour and fellowship after the service.

Deacon Linda Hale leads a Bible class on the Sunday lesson before the service, at 9 a.m., in the church hall.

Hanging of the Greens set for Nov. 27

LA GRANDE — The La Grande First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will meet at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, for worship. Adult Sunday school is held at 9 a.m.

This week, the church office will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 22-23. On Monday, Nov. 27, the Hanging of the Greens kicks off at 9 a.m. Also on Monday, the Mens Group gathers at 11 a.m., and Devoted Daughters, a Bible study for women, begins at 4 p.m.

Are you a ‘good goat’?

LA GRANDE — Zion Lutheran Church in La Grande will worship at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26. The service includes Holy Communion and a sermon titled “We’re Good Goats,” based on Matthew 25:31-46. The service will be streamed live. The links can be found on the church’s website and Facebook page Saturday afternoon.

Thanksgiving service held Thursday morning

Faith Lutheran Church in La Grande will have a Thanksgiving Day service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23. This is an opportunity to give thanks to God for all he has done, is doing, and will do — most specifically, providing the forgiveness of sins.

On Sunday, Nov. 26, Faith’s services will be held in La Grande at 10 a.m. and in Enterprise at 2 p.m. The Gospel reading will be Matthew 25:31-46. In these verses Jesus says there will be a separation of the righteous in Jesus Christ from those refusing his will and grace in their lives.
