High school girls basketball: Area schools see movement in coaches poll

WILSONVILLE — Most local girls basketball teams have seen the court a few times over the past couple weeks and win or lose in this early season, movement is being seen in the latest Oregon School Activities Association’s coaches poll, released Monday, Dec. 11.

After dropping its opener, La Grande have rattled off six straight wins. The state’s coaches have taken notice, moving the Tigers into fourth in the 4A poll, up from their preseason ranking of eighth. Henley sits at the top followed by Astoria and Cascade above La Grande.
An additional team making a move upwards is Imbler in the 1A poll. Unranked in the preseason poll, Imbler’s 5-0 record moved the team to sixth in the poll. Powder Valley, previously ranked seventh, dropped out of the poll after seeing two defeats.
In the 1A poll, Crane is at the top followed by St. Paul, Country Christian, North Douglas and Jordan Valley rounding out the top five.
