LA GRANDE — Turnovers led to easy baskets for visiting Fruitland, Idaho, in a 47-29 nonleague victory over La Grande on Thursday, Dec. 14.

“We had a great first half but the turnovers in the second half led to easy buckets for Fruitland,” La Grande head coach Shawn Brooks said. “We were outrebounded and didn’t make easy shots to help stop their run in the second half.”

Even with the loss, Brooks sees positive in the upcoming games.

“We are a young team, learning how to play at this level,” he said. “Once we figure out how to limit turnovers and start making shots, we will be a totally different team. The hard work and effort is there, but we need to be more consistent through the whole game, not just a half.”

Team and individual statistics were not provided for the games.

La Grande (1-6 overall) will have some practice time before taking to the road on Dec. 20 with a game at 5A Ridgeview (2-1 overall) in Redmond.
